Holiday Fun With Your Babies
So many of my clients welcomed sweet new babies in 2020. How exciting that they get to celebrate their first holiday season with their littles ones?! Here are some fun ideas to enjoy the holidays with your babies!
Read Christmas Books!
Some of our favorites are Bear Stays Up For Christmas" and "Twas the Night Before Christmas"
2. Video Call Your Family and Friends
How fun to let your baby still see family even amidst the COVID chaos?! Even though your family and friends are far, your baby can see them and interact with them.
3. Christmas Lights
Bundle you and baby up warm and go for a stroll in your neighborhood to admire all the lights. If it is too cold there are also lots of places doing drive through Christmas lights. Yukon Christmas in the Park and Downs Family Christmas are two local ones to check out. If getting out and about isn't your thing, plug in a strand of lights and let them see the lights up close! (NOTE: please don't let those lights get in their mouth though- be safe!)
4. Finger Paint
If your baby is old enough to start baby food (around 6 months) then this is a fun one! Make some edible finger paint and let them create a masterpiece of their own. Set them up in their high chair or even in the bath for this messy fun! Here is a recipe for edible finger paint. Cut their creations out into shapes and hang one on the tree for them to see :)
If they are too young for the finger paints, try a foot print and make a cute ornament to remember how little those little toes once were!
5. Wrapping Paper Fun
Let your little one help you with wrapping the presents. Well, we know they can't actually wrap but wrapping paper is a fun sensory item for them to enjoy. They can crinkle it, rip it, and play peek a boo with it!
6. Music Time
"Hey Alexa, play some holiday music!" Grab your baby and dance with them or even find them a bell to shake and enjoy!
7. Holiday Attire
Dress your baby up! Put them in a fancy holiday outfit, matching PJs, or a fun Santa hat! They will enjoy the attention and it always makes a fun social media post for family and friends far away to enjoy :)
8. Get Sentimental
The years start to run together as your baby grows (cue the tears!). Write a letter to your baby to give to them when they're older. Favorite memories of them, family traditions, gifts they received- these would be so fun to read with them one day.
Most importantly, find a moment to slow down and love on your baby! I'm telling you- it goes by SO fast. Enjoy your families and the memories you are making together :)
